Details Cotton fabric has been at the heart of our business for over two decades. In response to shifts in supply chain, an ever evolving ecosystem, we have collaborated with growers at Supima®, an American-grown, extra-long staple cotton, in addition to our ongoing partnership with the Texas Organic Cotton Marketing Cooperative. Maintaining the "hyper-local" supply chain as much as possible for our medium-weight cotton jersey is the result of years of work aimed at providing responsibility, sustainability, and transparency. Colors are named to indicate cotton stock: Colors ending in "-SP" are crafted from American-grown, extra-long staple Supima® cotton. A premium cotton that makes up less than 1% of the international cotton supply, Supima® is celebrated for its softness, color retention, and unmatched strength, due to the nature of its extra-long staple fibers. There are roughly 500 family-owned farms across California, Texas, and Arizona, and New Mexico that specialize in growing this unique cotton. Colors ending in "-OG" are 100% organic cotton that is grown and ginned in Texas, spun in North Carolina, and knit and dyed in South Carolina through our partnership with the Texas Organic Cotton Marketing Cooperative. Since 2004, we have had the privilege of working with certified organic growers in Texas to cultivate organic cotton fabrics, beloved for their soft hand and lasting quality. Instructor: Sunne Meyer Our Embroidery Workshop with Beads and Sequins includes discussion of the physics of sewing, beaded embroidery stitches, and an overview of garment construction and other sewing techniques. The kit selections will focus on variegated striped kits that focus on exploring various embroidery techniques. Participants will choose from The Stripe Scarf and The Stripe Poncho DIY Kit. Participants will also learn to use the die-cut grids in The Geometry of Hand-Sewing to practice and develop your embroideries. These reusable cards can be stitched through for practicing or used as stencils for transferring grids to fabric. This workshop is suited to beginners and experienced sewers alike. Guests will work with The School of Making team to create a hand-sewn project. Once enrolled, you will receive workshop information and the form to choose your DIY Kit via email from The School of Making team. As the date of the class approaches, you will be sent a Zoom link to join us virtually. For US guests: A flat shipping fee of $12 has been added for the DIY Kit. For international guests: All orders will be subject to an additional shipping charge. Please register at least two weeks in advance to ensure that your kit arrives in time for the workshop.
